Junior Grand Prix

The Junior Grand Prix is a winter race series open to all junior North Shields Polytechnic members. Races are held once a month from September to March. All junior runners are welcome whatever their age and ability. It is a chance to try out racing under friendly and familiar conditions.

Each runner is given a handicap based on their school year for the first race.  Handicaps for all subsequent races are based on the finish position in the previous race. This gives every runner a chance to win.

At the end of the race series each runner receives an overall score which is a total of their positions in all races. The runner with the lowest overall score is named as the series winner and awarded the Paula Adamson Memorial Shield.

Paula was a longstanding member of the Club, a runner and junior coach who set up the Junior Grand Prix.
