Mouth of Tyne Aquathlon 2024.

 This year’s event will take place on Sunday August 11th with a 07:30 start.

Participants will start on the beach at Tynemouth Haven and complete two 500m laps in the mouth of the River Tyne. At the end of lap one participants will leave the water in an Australian style exit, run a short way along the beach and then re-enter the water to complete their second lap. After finishing the swim participants will head into the transition area, close to the swim finish, change into their running kit and start their 5k run. This will take them past the Collingwood Monument towards the River Tyne and continue towards North Shields Fish Quay. Runners will perform a U-turn and head back along the riverside promenade, past the race start, and along Tynemouth North Pier with the North Sea to one side and the River Tyne to the other. At the end of the pier participants will run around the lighthouse and head back towards the finish line positioned beneath Tynemouth Priory. We think it is safe to say that this is one of the most picturesque race venues you will ever be in.

The top 3 overall finishers from the Female and Open categories will be rewarded with cash prizes. 

There will also be awards in each 10 year age group starting at 20-29 and also for the juniors.

The race takes place at Tynemouth Haven adjacent to Tynemouth Sailing Club. Postcode NE30 4DG. This is where registration will be from 06:00.

There is sufficient parking near to the event HQ and around the Tynemouth area. Nearest metro station is Tynemouth.

 It is highly likely that wetsuits will be mandatory for this event.

Race packs will be sent to entrants’ email addresses in the week prior to the race.
